The $35.2 million project will have a 14,000-square-foot gaming floor with 353 slot machines and four table games a 36,000-square-foot, four-story hotel with 58 rooms a 7,000-square-foot outdoor event space and a restaurant when it opens. The Anza tribe has been working on the hotel for roughly a year and a half. “While our hope was to be able to open as originally planned we felt that it was the best decision for the health and safety of all to postpone the opening and hold off on announcing the new opening date until we have a clearer picture of when that date will be,” wrote Melissa Asmus, director of operations, in an email. “Based on recent updates regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, in an effort to continue to protect the health and safety of our guests, team members and our community the Cahuilla Band of Indians has decided to postpone the opening of the new Cahuilla Casino Hotel that was originally scheduled for Apuntil further notice,” part of the post read. Cahuilla Casino near Anza has postponed the planned April 2 opening of its new casino hotel property, the Cahuilla Casino Hotel, until further notice, according a message posted to the casino’s Facebook page April 1.
